Join us Nov. 1 for All Hallows’ Eve when Matthew Troy leads us in a musical celebration of All Saints Day with Wendel’s Ride of the Headless Horseman, Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette and Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite and Borodin’s Prince Igor: Polovtsian Dances as part of an evening of musical tricks and treats. Pianist Michael Chertock returns for Liszt’s Totentanz.

Children ages 3-6 are invited to join Ms. Kim for stories, songs, crafts, and games.

In the months of February, March, April, May, June and July, Evening Storytimes occur on the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Thursdays of the month at 6:00 PM.

In the months of August, September, October, and November, and December, Evening Storytimes occur on the first (1st) and third (3rd) Thursdays of the month at 6:00 PM.

These Evening Storytimes are a repeat of the Monday morning Storytime.

At this time, Evening Storytime will be offered twice a month.

The French City Writers’ Guild meets at 1:00 PM on the second Saturday of the month.

Are you interested in creative writing? Do you want to be able to share your ideas and written works?

If so, you are invited to join the French City Writers’ Guild. The Writers’ Guild is an open forum writing group that enables you to share your works and meet others who share your passion for writing.

Our goal is to provide a comfortable place for writers to read their works to an audience and receive constructive feedback, hear the works of others, network with other local writers, and hone their craft.

Meetings are for those ages 18+ as, on occasion, works with more mature content may be presented and discussed.

Light refreshments will be served.

Fall Macramé Wall Hanging Class
Date: Saturday, November 8th
Time: 1pm-3pm
Price: $20
Spots: 8
Ages: 12+
Deadline to sign up: Monday, November 3rd
Refund policy: No refund past the deadline
We will be making a small, simple macrame wall-hanging project to learn basic macrame techniques and adding plants for a nice Autumn touch.
This class is set for two hours, but each student moves at a different pace, so keep in mind that some might finish before the two hours is over.

Flea Market

Gallia Chess Club, in collaboration with Jackson Chess Club, is hosting a FREE CASUAL Chess Tournament on Nov 14, 2025 in Gallipolis, Ohio for players of all skill levels! The tournament starts at 6:00pm; please arrive by 5:45pm.There will be a break between each round and we should finish around 9pm. See the Jotform link below to register.
♟️ Beginners are welcome, but you should know how to play chess. We want everyone to have FUN and experience a small-scale tournament right here in Gallia county! Maybe this will be your first tournament. We hope to have players from all skill levels; don’t skip out just because you’re not advanced! Come play so you can see what a tournament is like and to have a fun evening.

📝 On the registration form, you’ll be asked for your U.S. Chess Federation or Online rating (or the strongest bot you’ve beaten). If you don’t have a rating, you have time to play a few games online to determine your rating so that you get matched more appropriately at the tournament; you can message us on FB after registration and let us know your score. If you don’t have a rating when you register, that’s fine too. Ratings just help us to match you better during the tournament.
🕦 If you have a chess timer, please bring it. You can indicate this in the form.
♟️ Tournament size chess boards will be provided.
