French Art Colony September Exhibit: Ohio Designer Craftsmen, Best of 2014 Show

The French Art Colony, regional multi-arts center located in Gallipolis, Ohio, is proude to present selections from the Ohio Designer Craftsmen Best of 2014 Gallery Show, on display through September 28.  The FAC’s exhibit features 40 works of art, many by Ohio fine craft artists.

The collections features works in wood, ceramics, metal, pottery, fiber arts, weaving, quilting, multi-media and more.

The French Art Colony is one of only three sites to showcase the exhibit, with the other two being the Ohio Craft Museum, in Columbus, and the Wassenberg Art Center, in Van Wert.  The French Art Colony’s showing will complete the exhibition tour.

The Ohio Designer Craftsmen is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of fine craft.  With nearly 2000 members in 44 states and Canada, ODC, in its 51st year, is one of the premier craft organizations in the country.

The French Art Colony is located at 530 1st Avenue, in Gallipolis.  Gallery hours are 9:00-4:00, Tuesday through Friday; 10:00-3:00, on Saturday; and 1:00-5:00, on Sunday.  The Galleries are closed on Mondays.  Admission is free.

FRENCH ART COLONY THURSDAYS HOT SUMMER NIGHTS

Every Thursday afternoon and evening, from through September 25, The French Art Colony lawn and gardens comes to life with the arts!  French Art Colony Thursdays, Hot Summer Nights, is a weekly art festival with live entertainment, food from Honey Creek Barbeque, legal beverages, and local artists and crafters from the Gallia County Artisan Market.  Our evening event begins each Thursday at 6:00, with tickets only $5.  (Gates open at 5:30 with music beginning at 6:30.)  Please bring ID's and lawn chairs.  

Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening.  Visitors will enjoy entertainment from great, regional musicians and browsing the booths and watching demonstrations from locals artists and crafters.  The Gallia County Artisan Market will also be open on the FAC lawn from 1:00-4:00 each Thursday afternoon.  (No ticket is required to visit the Artisan Market during the afternoon hours.

French Art Colony Thursdays, HOT SUMMER NIGHTS is presented weather permitting and will cancel in the event of rain.
